Notes This is the second quartz moon hare seal I have made as I sold the first one. In Chinese the word 兔(Tù) does not distinguish between hares and rabbits, the Moon Rabbit (AKA Jade Rabbit) is usually actually pictured as a hare. He lives on the moon accompanied by the goddess Chang'e, and he has a pestle and mortar to grind the elixir of life for the immortals. The Chinese lunar rover Yutu, which landed on the Moon on December 14, 2013, was named after the Jade Rabbit as a result of an online poll. |
